Breeding, Training, Sales, Lessons, and Clinics for Paso Finos and all Gaited Breeds
Many of you are exploring horses for the first time. For some it is re-awakening of a passion of your youth. Perhaps a new connection to horsemanship on an easy gaited horse. Some will have had many years of training in a different horse sport and are interested in the versatilty of the Paso Fino.
My own passion for horses began at a young age in North Eastern Pennsylvania where I lived, breathed and slept horses along with my Pony Club friends. We fox hunted from farm to farm on fall weekends and had the benefits that horse responsibilities give a youngster. I was so lucky to live in a place where beautiful Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds Arabians and Quarter Horses were begging to be worked by enthusiastic young girls. It was the Paso Fino in my adult life that re-awakened that complete bond between equine and human.
Family Affair:
When my husband and I were able to afford the time to add horses to our family's recreational life, I began a search that would give us the versatility of the breeds I had hunted and trail ridden as a youth. A horse that would perform in dressage, and with training could be used in field trials, jumping and endurance as well. We wanted easy gaited horses with the flexability and savy to do trails for my non ridiing family. My husband and I traveled to every gaited breeding ranch we could find, riding all before finding the do it all horse, The PASO FINO.

Spanish Heritage
The Paso Fino met more than my desire for a family horse breed. It brought the Spanish heritage of my mother’s family a full circle. The Paso Fino's history matched the path of my mother's ancestors. The Paso Fino horse traveled from Andalusia Spain, where the Andalusian had been mixed with the Spanish Jennet for gaitedness. Well over 500 years ago it was transported to the Dominican Republic and then on to Colombia, Costa Rica, St Thomas, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Panama. Once I knew of its bold heritage, it made the breed all the more interesting to me. My mother's family was a very strong presence in the building of Panama. TOLEDANO, the family name was well known in the country. A breed of Spanish influence that was gaited and would fit all my standards needed to be investigated. After one ride we knew we had found the horse breed of a lifetime and created Rancho Toledano to honor the breed's heritage and my Panamanian relatives.
